EV Charging Idle Fees Singapore: SP & Shell Rules

Compare published SP Mobility and Shell Recharge idle-fee rules, grace periods and location differences. Source review: 15 October 2026.

Updated · Editorial method & corrections

Idle fees are separate from electricity and parking

An idle fee can start when charging ends, even if the battery is not full. Check the operator’s definition of session completion and the selected location’s terms. A car park’s parking charge may continue independently. The comparison below was reviewed on 15 October 2026; it is not a live feed.

An illustrative idle-fee calculation

If an applicable charger has a 30-minute grace period and charges S$0.50 per minute, remaining plugged in for 40 minutes after completion would create 10 chargeable minutes, or S$5, before any applicable rounding or other conditions. This assumes those minutes fall inside the fee window; it is not a billing quote.

An overnight stop needs extra care when an operator’s charging window resumes in the morning. Use the operator’s own worked example to understand whether an earlier grace period has already elapsed.

Before leaving the charging bay

  1. Check the session-complete message rather than relying only on the battery percentage.
  2. Enable operator notifications and keep your phone reachable.
  3. Set your own reminder; disabled notifications do not suspend a fee.
  4. Return, end the session and unplug according to the instructions.
  5. Move the car out of the charging bay, and keep the receipt if you need support.
